Resident Associations
A residents' association is a group of council tenants and leaseholders who represent the interests of everyone living in a particular area. Being part of a resident association can be a great way to get to know your neighbours, a way of sharing ideas, local information, and becoming more involved by having a greater say about decisions relating to your home and neighbourhood. It can also open up opportunities to meet new people, learn new skills or update your skills, and gain confidence in dealing with local and community issues.
Resident’s associations can play an important part in dealing with problems that people come across in day-to-day life, as well as bringing the community together through the organisation of social events.
They are set up for everyone to join to:
• promote community spirit, tolerance and co-operation
• promote residents rights
• improve housing and the living environment
• inform all residents and represent the majority view of members
• work in partnership with the resident participation team
• encourage training for members
There is currently one resident association in the South East CIP covering the Henderson Mobile Home site. If you would like more information about this resident association or you are interested in setting up a residents' association, contact the Resident Participation team on the details below.

• a resident office and facilities for producing newsletters etc
Neighbourhood Forums
There are six Neighbourhood Forums across the South East CIP. These forms involve local people in the decisions that affect their lives. They offer people the chance to speak up about what's happening on their doorstep and have a say on local services such parking, crime, planning developments, policing and schools.
Forum meetings are held up to four times a year with Committee meetings taking place in between. Meetings last approximately 2 hours. Meetings can attract up to 150 people, whilst committees of around 15 local people set the agenda, and organise the day-to-day running of the forums.
Forums have achieved real successes with a number receiving grants to physically improve their area, and helping to secure money for skate parks and youth shelters, whilst continuing to have a real say on policies and developments affecting their neighbourhood.
Below are the details of the council Link Officers, resident Chairs and Secretaries for all of the neighbourhood forums in the South East CIP. Support for the forums is provided by the Democratic & Community Engagement Service. Call them on 023 9283 4059 or email
