TAKING THE LEAD: advanced programme for community leaders

Take Part is offering a unique opportunity for Portsmouth’s community leaders and activists to help them work effectively together to make Portsmouth the best city that
it can be. The course is free for this year, as it is being funded by the national Take Part pathfinder project. This accredited six module course will further your understanding of: local democracy, the third sector each other’s roles, partnership working, and innovative and emerging tools for consultation, campaigning and communication.

What will I get from the course?

The course will further empower delegates to feel they can better engage with their local community and make a real difference. It will be interactive and delivered by engaging and inspirational speakers.
The content of the course will be enhanced by the delegates themselves, who will come from a variety of different backgrounds and will be able to offer their own expertise.

Modules will include:

  • Effective decision making
  • Leading on community issues
  • Keeping it local
  • Exploring the three sectors
  • Consultation and communication (including
    social media)

The course is the first of its kind in the country and is being developed specifically for the people of Portsmouth. The course is free to learners for this year, as it is being funded by the national Take Part
Pathfinder project. We are looking for 20 people to take part in the course this autumn.
