About South East CIP

The Purpose of the CIP’s

The Community Improvement Partnerships (CIPs) existed to play a key part in supporting the delivery of the Every Child Matters outcomes through a range of extended services designed to tackle barriers to children’s learning and improved well being. This will be achieved through the involvement of a cross-phase network of schools, children’s’ centres, education and health services and other statutory and voluntary agencies which met the needs of all children and families in each locality.

CIPs have been awarded the Quality in Extended Services (a national accreditation) in emerged status for their work to October 2009 and gained the established status in March 2011.  Portsmouth is the first LA to have reached this achievement and be recognised as a whole city cluster.

The CIP Vision

‘To improve outcomes for children through supporting all partners to engage in multi-agency collaboration as agents of social change and community renewal’

To make this vision a reality the CIP’s:

  • Looked imaginatively at ways in which existing local provision could best meet the needs of children, young people, families and communities
  • Shared this vision and engaged with partners to deliver integrated provision in response to local needs
  • Made sure that those who most needed extended services increasingly gained swift and easy access to them, so that the gaps in outcomes between the more advantaged and less advantaged closed

About the South East CIP

The SE CIP was set up 5 years ago to meet the Extended Services Core Offer & the Every Child Matters outcomes. It was also thought that it would be a great way to respond to local needs and work with families and the community within a geographical area.

A key purpose of the SE CIP has been to deliver and signpost a range of opportunities for children, young people and families bringing together a wide selection of the community.

From August 2011 the SE CIP will no longer be managed and administered by a designated team, but extended services obligations will lie with individual schools.
